Sneak Preview of New Modular Ambulances
Hall Ambulance is excited to bring its employees and visitors a first look at the production process of our leap from Ford vans to Chevy modular ambulances. Working with Emergency Vehicle Group in Anaheim, California, the Company currently has five modulars being produced at McCoy Miller in Elkhart, Indiana.
The transition to the Chevy product came about as a result of the on-going issues ambulance providers have experienced with the Ford 6.0 liter package.
The decision to move to a modular package was due, in part, to the concave shape of the Chevy vans as the walls lean in from the bottom to top, thus reducing head room. Concerned with providing maximum comfort for the paramedic and their patient, Mr. Hall opted for the modular configuration. The Type III vehicles also offer a smoother ride thanks to four rear tires as opposed to two.
According to Steve Prater, project coordinator, the target completion date is slated to be between the middle to end of August. Check back often to see more photos of the production process.
