Job Opportunities

Hall paramedics work in a system that places them as the highest level medical provider on scene- assisted by fire EMT first responders. The result is a system where the paramedics practice full-time ALS care, which we believe translates into superior patient care.

EMT Academy
The Hall EMT Academy is a unique entry level program that allows you to get started on a career at Hall Ambulance Service with no previous experience. Academy students are full time employees and learn everything they need to get started working as an EMT in the Hall Ambulance 911 system. The seven week program exceeds requirements in state and national EMT program curriculums. Instruction includes class room lectures on Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Electrophysiology, working around Hazardous Materials, and treatment of illnesses and injuries. Considerable time is dedicated to hands on practice of skills including, use of airway adjuncts, CPR, splinting and bandaging, packaging patients for transport, lifting and moving patients, defibrillation, and emergency vehicle operations.

Once the new Hall Ambulance Employee completes the training program and obtains their State of California EMT certificate they move into the field for an additional six weeks practicing their new skills with another EMT. During the six weeks of field training the new EMT goes from observing an EMT on a Paramedic Ambulance to being that EMT.

The goal of the EMT Academy is not simply to create EMTs for Hall Ambulance but to create EMTs that are motivated to become Paramedics for Hall Ambulance.

Paramedic Training
Hall Ambulance Service offers another unique training program to help our EMTs obtain their Paramedic license. Full time EMTs that have demonstrated the ability to provide a quality experience for our customers can be sponsored to attend the Bakersfield College Paramedic Training Program. Sponsorship includes assistance with books and tuition and full pay and benefits while attending the didactic sessions and while completing a field internship. The new Paramedics agree to work for Hall Ambulance for an extended period of time in exchange for sponsorship.

The Right Support
Continuing education opportunities and a proactive quality assurance program allows our medics to stay on top of their game. For example, when it comes to performing in-field intubations, our medics have achieved a 94% success rate.

Metro to Wilderness Environments
Hall Ambulance is the 9-1-1 paramedic provider for 87% of Kern County, California. Our response areas encompass an area equal in size to the state of New Jersey. As a result, our medics have the opportunity to work in a variety of geographical locations that vary from the metropolitan areas of Bakersfield, the wilderness areas bordering Los Padres National Forest to the vast expanse of the Mojave Desert.

The Hall Way
Our medics, particularly those who have worked in other systems, are appreciative of the high standards that were introduced by founder Harvey L. Hall more than 40 years ago that are still adhered to today. As one medic states, “Mr. Hall goes out of his way to provide his medics and EMTs with the best of the best- all of the time.” This standard is fondly referred to as the “Hall Way of Doing Things.”

Many prospective employees are amazed when they learn that Mr. Hall maintains a hand-on approach with the Company which he balances with his other job, serving his third term as Mayor of the City of Bakersfield.
